Great cartoon. Pity that what often happens with a purely public option is that the government cuts costs to keep healthcare costs low, so they can pocket more of your tax money. The only way to ensure that doesn’t happen is to ensure it’s ring-fenced, but that could always be eroded over time until it goes.
Whatever you do, please, please…don’t copy the NHS. It’s a huge giant mess, whereas many of us look over at the US and wish we had a system more like yours. Heck, many people who need care that they can’t get here end up going to America to get it.
